Stages of pregnancy:
Conception: This is the point at which a sperm cell successfully penetrates an egg cell, leading to fertilization. This usually occurs during sexual intercourse.
Implantation: After fertilization, the fertilized egg, now called a zygote, travels down the fallopian tube and eventually implants itself in the lining of the woman's uterus, where it will continue to develop.
Embryonic Development: In the early stages of pregnancy (typically the first 8 weeks), the zygote develops into an embryo. During this time, the major organs and body systems begin to form.
Fetal Development: After the embryonic stage, the developing baby is referred to as a fetus. This stage continues from the 9th week of pregnancy until birth. During this period, the fetus grows in size and complexity, with all major organs and body parts developing further.
Trimesters: Pregnancy is often divided into three trimesters, each roughly lasting three months. These divisions help to track and describe the progression of pregnancy. Different milestones and developments occur during each trimester.
Prenatal Care: Throughout the pregnancy, it is crucial for the expectant mother to receive regular prenatal care, which includes check-ups with healthcare providers, monitoring the health of both the mother and baby, and addressing any concerns or complications that may arise.
